What We Collect
We collect and use the information below to provide and improve the Services of Supportedly. For example, if you request details about a support provider or event, or if you want to share information with a friend or colleague, we may collect your name and email address. We also collect information like your name and email address if you want us to keep you up to date on by receiving e-mail newsletters from Supportedly or if you provide feedback to us.
If you want to take courses with us, we collect a little more information about you during the course signup process, such as your name and email address. Other demographic information such as gender, age, highest education level completed, current county and state of residence, and ethnicity is optional to for you to provide, but it does help us understand usage of Supportedly so that we can continue to improve the Services.
We will occasionally send out surveys, and if you choose to respond, we collect that information.
When you use the Services, we collect other information related to the devices on which you are using our Services. We may collect this information using analytics software such as Google Analytics. Examples of such information include the type of device, type of browser, IP addresses, the website you visited before ours, time you spend on a page, age, gender, language, network, and other identifiers associated with your device, such as your location.
Do Not Track
There is currently no industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring Do Not Track (DNT) signals. We currently ignore all DNT signals or signals that may be considered DNT signals.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Use and Sharing of Your information
We use your information for the following reasons: for the purposes you provide it, such as delivering the Services, customer service, marketing purposes, and for research and analytics purposes. Supportedly may share your information as discussed below.
Sharing with Licensees
Supportedly works with community colleges to build digital sites to support local startup ecosystems. If you interact with Supportedly through one of the “Startup Your Ecosystem” subdomains, we’ll share your information with that local community college licensee.
Supportedly aggregates the data we collect in order to generate insights and reports valuable to you and others. The data is de-identified, aggregated data such that it cannot be used to directly or indirectly identify you or other users. Supportedly or its licensee may present such de-identified, aggregated data in report form to community stakeholders.
Other Service Providers
Supportedly uses other service providers, affiliates, licensees, vendors, and partners to help give you the best experience with Supportedly. An example of another service provider we may use would be website developer. These other service providers only have access to the information they need to work for Supportedly and are prohibited from using the information for any other purpose.
We will contact you from time to time through email, notices posted on our websites, and other ways through our Services, including push notifications. We also send messages about how to use the Services, updates, and promotional messages from us and our partners. You may change your communication settings at any time. However, note that you may not opt out of receiving certain messages from us, including security and legal notices.
We may share your information to third parties if we determine that a disclosure is required to comply with the law, protect persons from death or serious injury, or prevent fraud.
In the event that Supportedly decides to sell, buy, merge, or engage in another strategic transaction involving our business and other businesses, such transaction may involve disclosing your information. While we would seek protections for all information disclosed, the information would likely be one of the transferred assets in such a transaction.
Your Rights to Your Information
You have the right to know what information about you we have stored, update the information about you we have stored, have us delete the information we have about you, or to opt out of future contact from us. We retain personal data if reasonably necessary to comply with legal or regulatory obligations, defend our rights, or maintain security.
How We Protect Your information
We maintain security measures that are commercially reasonable in the industry. Please note that no method of storing or transmitting information on the internet is completely secure, and therefore we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of information you share with us.
Despite taking reasonable precautions, it is impossible to protect all information from a breach, also referred to as a data breach or security breach. We will notify you via either mail, email, or other method provided by law in the instance of the unauthorized release of unencrypted or unredacted records or data containing personal information with corresponding names, such as a person’s first initial and last name without unreasonable delay, consistent with the legitimate needs of law enforcement. The notice will include a general description of the security breach incident, the type of personal information breached, a general description of efforts to avoid further unauthorized access to personal information, a telephone number for more information, if applicable, and a link to North Carolina’s Department of Justice’s advice for those affected. We will notify the North Carolina’s Attorney General’s Office when required by law.
Third Party Sites
The Supportedly Services may contain links to third party sites. Supportedly is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of third-party sites, and we strongly encourage you to read the privacy policies of third-party sites to understand those policies and make an informed decision as to whether to share your information with those sites. Third party sites include social media sites that allow you to share information with friends and the public, according to the settings you choose for those sites. Your interactions with third party sites, including social media sites, are governed by the privacy policies of each of those sites.
These services are not directed at children under 18, and we will not intentionally collect or store any personally identifiable information of children under 18. No part of the Services is directed to anyone under the age of 18. IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE, PLEASE DO NOT USE OR ACCESS THE SERVICES AT ANY TIME OR IN ANY MANNER AND PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY PERSONALLY IDENFITIABLE INFORMATION TO US. If we learn that a child under the age of 18 has submitted personally identifiable information to us, we will work to delete such information as soon as practicable.
